Hearing Aids Palm Desert
Hearing loss is a common medical condition, affecting infants, children and adults. Hearing is one of our most valued key senses, and allows us to communicate with our loved ones and the world around us. It was Hellen Keller, who said that she felt that her loss of hearing was a far greater deficit than her inability to see.
Hearing rehabilitation is extremely important for individuals of all ages. For infants and children, hearing rehabilitation is key during the time of speech and language development, and for auditory processing. For adults, hearing rehabilitation is now known to be far more important than previously recognized.
A study by the National Council on Aging, showed that hearing impaired adults over the age of 50 are at greater risk for developing depression, anti-social behavior, and psychosis. Another important study published by Johns Hopkins University in 2011, demonstrated that seniors who did not treat their hearing loss, were 2x – 5x more likely to develop dementia, than their counterparts who wore hearing aids.
